Sheila Anderson Vanderkam was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1952. She is the fourth of eleven children. Those Who Trespass Against Us, is based on her own life story. Having experienced the pain of molestation, murder, abuse, discrimination, and deception by those closest to her, she is able to communicate the complexity of lives torn by these struggles. Those Who Trespass Against Us is her first novel. She has two grown daughters and one grandson. Her background includes a career in law enforcement and she is licensed in cosmetology. She enjoys music, cooking, traveling and writing. She presently lives in Houston, Texas, where she works with her husband, Hank Vanderkam.
