I have chosen Legal Guide for Police for my students because it does an excellent job at taking difficult constitutional issues and presenting them in an easy to read text while incorporating important case law.

-Rod Nelson, Criminal Justice, Hennepin Technical College, Director, Law Enforcement Training Services, LLC, and Former Captain, Hennepin County Sheriff's Office

Walker and Hemmens have done a masterful job in providing a legal text that is comprehensive with current important legal cases which is easy to read. The text is among one of the best sources for providing legal guidance to law enforcement officers and police administrators. Walker and Hemmens provide a detailed review of important legal principles underscored with current case decisions which is most useful for guiding field decisions and operations for street officers and command personnel. I have used the text for years as a source in teaching criminal procedures and in researching case law for providing expert witness services. Moreover, the book should be required reading in all police academies and every police administrator should have copies of the book available to all officers and command personnel within the department. The book provides a valuable and practical legal source and without reservation I highly endorse it.

-Darrell L. Ross, Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice, Valdosta State University

Walker and Hemmens have written a well-organized, comprehensive text on the constitutional issues related to policing. The authors’ presentation is accessible and relevant for both experienced police officers and students of policing. Their guide blends discussions about legal doctrines and precedents with the real work of policing.

-Barbara Belbot, Criminal Justice, University of Houston, Downtown

A fundamentally important addition to Police Academy curriculums and academic library Police Science & Law Enforcement Studies reference collections and supplemental reading lists, "Legal Guide for Police: Constitutional Issues" is so accessibly written, organized and presented that it is also highly recommended for public safety and advocacy groups dealing with the kinds of police shootings that are in today's news headlines and the focus/cause of so much civil unrest. Indeed, "Legal Guide for Police: Constitutional Issues" would be highly appropriate for community library collections in every major municipality in the country.
