This textbook for students on caring and health-studies courses provides an overview of health and welfare provision, together with an exploration of social-policy issues as they apply to a range of client groups. The book uses the same approach as the author's "Sociology Alive!", each chapter consisting of straightforward text interwoven with a large number of relevant case-study extracts, diagrams, illustrations, research ideas and other exercises, all designed to develop investigative, communicative and research skills.
