This wide-ranging anthology examines the gendered dimensions of citizenship experiences and uses them as a point of departure for rethinking contemporary practices of social inclusion and belonging. Drawing on ethnographic research with diverse communities in the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, and the United States, contributors argue for the importance of understanding how notions of belonging and entitlement are locally experienced and subjectively defined by members of marginalized communities.
