Ausgabe, welche zwischen 1908 und 1912 von den Originalplatten gedruckt wurde. -- Blatt-Masse: ca. 34,5 x 24 cm. Platten-Masse: ca. 21 x 15 cm. -- im unteren Außenrand leicht fleckig und mit zwei winzigen Wurmlöchlein, sonst gut erhalten. || Original etching by Francisco de Goya (1746-1828), out of the 9th edition of the series 'Los Caprichos', printed between 1908 and 1912 from the original plates. -- Size of sheet: c. 13.58 x 9.44 inches. Size of plate: c. 8.3 x 5.9 inches. -- with two very small wormholes and slightly stained on the lower outer margin, otherwise in very good condition. - Ref. Harris 36-115 (= Delteil 38-117). || Los Caprichos", a series of 80 prints by Francisco Goya, created between 1797 and 1798, serve as a scathing critique of Spanish society during the Enlightenment era. Through aquatint and etching, Goya exposes the follies and superstitions prevalent in society, targeting the ruling class, religious institutions, and societal norms. Each print is accompanied by Goya's cryptic explanations (through a title written below the images), shedding light on his intentions. The subjects that Goya chose for these prints are "from the multitude of follies and blunders common in every civil society, as well as from the vulgar prejudices and lies authorized by custom, ignorance or interest, those that he has thought most suitable matter for ridicule".
