Printed on robust hand laid paper, no folds, blank verso.Philip Miller (1691-1771) was head gardener at the Chelsea Physic Garden and a member of the Botanic Academy of Florence.He was considered the most influential and distinguished gardener of his time and his wonderful illustrations were drawn from live specimens from the Chelsea Physic Garden itself.  Several notable artists, including George Ehret and Richard Lancake were commissioned for the work and Miller closely monitored each one through to the engraving stage.The prints here offered were published as a follow-up to Miller's "Gardener's Dictionary" which was not fully illustrated. Miller declared that "no expense has been spared to render it as perfect as possible". VNPF1224A GENUINE ANTIQUE PRINT GUARANTEED OVER 260 YEARS OLD FROM LINDISFARNE PRINTS.
