HC - in Good condition. This book is RARE and has a lot of history. Written/Compiled/Edied by A.M. Hobby (Alfred Marmaduke Hobby)'s mother, widow, moved to Galveston, TX in the 1850's. This book listed has a small book-binding stamp from C.F. Frommer (Bookbinder) in Galveston, TX and is INSCRIBED "My Mother Cooper-Hobby." July 2nd, 1918. It is possible that Mary Hobby re-married to Congressman S.B. Cooper during some time and this was a gift inscribed - the second signature and/or message is hard to declare (see pics). In any case, this Texas Almanac 1870-71 IS RARE! It has marbled boards, banded spine w/ faded gilt lettering to spine. The exterior is chipped at joints and head/foot of spine. Extremities are rubbed/bumped. The interior is clean/no markings - however the front/back hinges are cracking but NOT loose. There is a faded green fore-edge dye and overall, quite a collectible. Moderately thick 12mo. 290pp, profusely illustrated. Some pages are a 'tad' soiled but not to any great extent - all is legible. Binding is tight. Last 3 pages dog-earred. GREAT for any Texas historian or Collector! - "Texas" - Bin1 - (P.D.).
