The book takes place in an alternate version of America, where people have special powers referred to as 'knacks', with a plot involving alternate versions of Ta-Kumsaw, William Henry Harrison, Napoleon, and Lafayette.This novel won the Locus Award for 'Best Fantasy Novel' in 1989, and was nominated for the Nebula as well as the Hugo Award.Orson Scott Card is an American writer best known for his science fiction works, primarily 'Ender's Game'.
