Dwiggins, and set in Arcadia, a new type face designed by Dwiggins and used here in a book for the first time. There is a section, "From the Borzoi Kennel" that shows all the Borzoi marks, most of them by Dwiggins, but also by other designers, including John Cleland, Boris Artzybasheff, Warren Chappell and Paul Rand. First edition. A book designed by W. A. Dwiggins using his linotype face "Arcadia" for the first time in a book. Typophile Chapbook XXII; printed and bound by The Plimpton Press. One of 1250 for presentation only. This copy with Frederic Melcher's bookplate. In red cloth, the spine faded and with residual glue presumably from Melcher's library sticker, otherwise about fine. Of particular interest is "The Borzoi Kennel" with thirty Borzoi marks designed by Dwiggins, Chappell, Rand, Gibran and others. Artikel-Nr. 64421

A superb copy. One of a series of little keepsakes produced annually to mark this lecture series. With the author's signed presentation inscription to the front free endpaper, 'To the Prince & the Princess with love Alfred Xmas 1949'.
