Includes references to important figures in this process from Robert Hooke to Benjamin Martins and George Adams. Written by Reginald S. Clay and Thomas H. Court, British scientific historians best known for this work and fellows of the Royal Microscopical Society. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original glassine wrapper is worn with chipping and tearing to the extremities resulting in light loss. A tear to the rear panel resulting in the panel and rear fly leaf to detach from the remainder of the wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Light spotting to the endpapers. Fine.
