Busch is Co-Director of the Center For American Studies and a Professor of Government. He received an M.A. in political science from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto with specializations in international relations and political philosophy. Prior to coming to Christopher Newport University, he held positions at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Harvard University, and the University of Georgia. Dr. Busch has published widely in the field of international security and is a specialist in WMD proliferation and terrorism. He is author, co-author or co-editor of many books and articles on these issues, including, most recently, The Business of Counterterrorism: Public-Private Partnerships in Homeland Security, The Routledge Handbook of Nuclear Proliferation and Policy, and No End in Sight: The Continuing Menace of Nuclear Proliferation, and editor of Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction: The Future of International Nonproliferation Policy. The global threat of nuclear weapons is one of today's key policy issues. Using a wide variety of sources, including recently declassified information, Nathan E. Busch offers detailed examinations of the nuclear programs in the United States, Russia, China, Iraq, India, and Pakistan, as well as the emerging programs in Iran and North Korea. He also assesses the current debates in international relations over the risks associated with the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the post-Cold War world.
