It covers in huge detail the biology of this group of animals with particular emphasis on the anatomy, but much also on functional physiology, ecology and evolutionary relationships. The diagrams alone are worth the cost of the book, and although the text is dense there are many pithy asides in which the authors - dedicated specialists par excellence - give their views on controversial issues or sum up complex issues in the context of the subject in general.
