Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

Wrapped in what appears to be the original shrinkwrap packaging, with a small tear of the plastic at the top. An interactive chronicle of the history of world architecture combines dramatic three-dimensional, pop-up illustrations of the world's architectural masterpieces, accompanied by working models of key building components, color illustrations, and an audio tour of architectural methods. This SEALED Pop-Up Book "The Architecture Pack" by Ron van der Meer and Sudjic is a beautifully crafted and visually stunning exploration of architecture through the 1990s. This hardcover features intricate pop-up illustrations and insights into the history and general topics of architecture. With only 14 pages, this book is a rare and unique collector's item for those interested in the art and science of building design. The dimensions of 11.2 x 11.2 x 2.1 inches and weight of 46.2 ounces make it a substantial and impressive addition to any bookshelf. Ron van der Meer is considered one of the world’s foremost paper engineers. His oversized Architecture, Music, Brain, and Earth packs have been hailed as revolutionary in their combination of complex paper engineering and wealth of information. Ron van der Meer was the first paper engineer to insist that adults could be as fascinated by pop-up books as children. Consequently, his books on specialist subjects such as architecture, music and psychology have been collected by fans throughout the world. As well as bringing the thrills of pop-ups to adults, his ingenious mechanics show graphic designers the full potential of paper engineering. A flat page of a seemingly normal book can be lifted and turned to reveal the three dimensions of a sailing ship, an orchestra, a volcano or the Sydney Opera House. Van der Meer's background is in graphic design. At college in the early 1970s he found himself veering towards animation, and specialized in the three-dimensional application of toys. He was very much into fiddling and cutting and making things up. In 1978 his life was changed by a small book a friend had brought over from California. Created by Ib Penick, this children's pop-up book was simple by today's standards, but at the time such a three-dimensional application to paper had never been seen by many people, including van der Meer. He became hooked. Van der Meer approached UK publishers Hamish Hamilton with his own idea for a book. Deyan Sudjic OBE (born 6 September 1952) is a British writer and broadcaster, specializing in the fields of design and architecture. He was formerly the director of the Design Museum, London. Sudjic was the design and architecture critic for The Observer, the Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Kingston University, visiting professor at the Royal College of Art, and co-chair of the Urban Age Advisory Board. In 1983, he co-founded, with Peter Murray and Simon Esterson, Blueprint, a monthly architecture magazine and went on to be the magazine's editor and then its editorial director. From 2000–04, he was the editor of Domus. In 2000, he was made OBE. He was the director of Glasgow's UK City of Architecture and Design program in 1999. Sudjic became director of the Design Museum in 2006. Sudjic has contributed to The Guardian, the London Review of Books, and other publications.…
