A fascinated study of Saudi Arabia "designed to consolidate, in convenient form, information of particular interest and usefulness to American members of the Aramco organization". The book treats of the geographical, historical and cultural backgrounds of the Middle East, particularly of Saudi Arabia. The first part discusses the ancient history of the Middle East and early Arab civilisation, the rise of Islam, and the historical events culminating in the establishment of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The government, populated centres, industries and geographical characteristics of the Arabian peninsula are then discussed in detail.
