This is not solely a BLACK mans book its a HU-mans book told from the lips of a man that wants to change the world. The purpose of this book of poetry is to reach a newer level of understanding by being able to identify with experiences we talk about every day in our communities. The poems in this book were inspired by real people and therefore some are addressed to certain categories of people. Such as to that black male public school teacher who feels unappreciated, to the black religious leader who is being challenged by the waning faith in the community, to the many black veterans who served paid the ultimate price for patriotism and even to mixed couples who deal with racism from their own races on a daily bases. If I can inspire you by just ONE poem in this book of 28 (with a bonus haiku page) then you have my thanks. My muscles in my body felt useless and I had to start over. I was determined to get back 100% especially after I found out that the doctors wanted to pull the plug on me several times. As I started writing, I couldnt read a word, but I kept at it determined to win my battle. I practiced over and over to get better. I started to write down what was on my heart. It was a way to recuperate. I was supposed to die, but God wanted me to live for some reason. As I wrote in my journals, my experiences stated coming out as poems. I started sharing my poems to hurting people. Many doors opened as I shared my experiences. I hope you will enjoy my healing adventure through my poetry.

An American car was a luxury, and a 32 Chevy was a rarity. I would dream about this car. I would picture myself sitting behind the steering wheel cruising up High Street (the main drag in San Fernando, my hometown). My friends would be envious, and the girls would dote over me for having such a cool car. Some time passed, and I stopped seeing this car on the road. The Racing Bike I got my first bike at the age of twelve. In Trinidad in the 1950s, a bicycle was an essential means of transport. Few people could afford cars. The bicycle was the dependable machine that took you everywhere on the island: to work, to school, to the beach, across town to visit friends and relatives, to the shop to buy goods, and downtown to hang with the boys. A Memorable Tobago Adventure The first time I visited Tobago was in 1963. I went with my best friends Wahid, Bissoon, Karl, George, and Hamid (Wahids younger brother). It was Easter, and we had carefully planned this adventure to see the famous Tobago crab races and attend other Easter boat races and sport festivities on the beach. It was introduced to the Caribbean (Jamaica) in the mid-seventeenth century and the Tropical Asian regions in the mid-1800s.
