But their blessed seclusion comes to an abrupt end with the escape of a dozen desperate Nazi POWs from nearby Camp Trinidad.Widower Jack Carson, along with his teenage sons, Wade and Josh, and daughter, Cassie, bear the full brunt of Colonel Helmut Von Toth's wrath. Murder and mayhem explode as Von Toth and his men swarm the Carson Ranch in search of weapons, horses, guides, and hostages before embarking on their desperate life-and-death run for the Mexican border. No mercy is granted to those unfortunate enough to cross paths with the Nazis, and the Carsons must use every ounce of skill and daring they possess to outlast the villains. Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Robert Gerard's life story involves a fascinating journey full of twists, turns, and unexpected events. With no specific career plan in place, things just happened - mostly good things! Along the way, over time, people, events, and places seemed to re-emerge in an intriguing way. Gerard was born in…New York City in 1930. He and his mother and father lived on the west side, near Central Park. He didn't know until many years later that his father was an alien who had entered the United States illegally and changed his name. When Robert was just two years old, the FBI came knocking at the apartment off Central Park West. However, they were not looking for illegal aliens. They were looking for the Lindbergh baby! Later, the family moved to West Orange, New Jersey, a small town where it seemed that nearly everyone was employed by Thomas A. Edison, Inc. Gerard's story captures the lean years of the 1930s, prior to World War II, some problems at home, and his escapades as a teen-ager during the war years, including two years of tough discipline at a private boarding school in North Jersey. It was during this period that his father was deported to Belgium from Ellis Island.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - QUANTUM CONSCIOUSNESS AND YOUR IMMORTALITY, is a full length book by James L. Forberg, and is a scientific analysis of our physical reality and of the metaphysical possibilities based on currently emerging concepts in quantum physics. Jim was an Engineer by profession who has for over 30 years explo…red the scientific literature on the leading edge of Physics. He demonstrates startling possibilities from this new science of Quantum Consciousness, and explains the new physics of immortality. QUANTUM CONSCIOUSNESS AND YOUR IMMORTALITY is not written from a religious perspective and is also not limited to New Age pseudo-science, astral-projection, or para-psychology mindsets. QUANTUM CONSCIOUSNESS AND YOUR IMMORTALITY uses the terminology of the newest concepts of Physics to describe our greater potential not as Newtonian blobs of tissue with our feet planted on dirt, but as Quantum persons without set horizons, fully participating at the cosmic level of existence. This book is must reading for anyone who has felt the extended reality of our cosmic consciousness but doubts the truth because of the sternly taught limits of 'old physics'. There is a larger world and we can be active participants.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Rich in period analysis, here is fascinating historical perspective covering 250 years of existence primarily of a 1750 Spanish settlement originally called 'Villa del Señor San Ignacio de Loyola de Revilla' and now known as 'Guerrero Viejo.' Although many books cover the genealogical aspects of fam…ilies that originated in this city, the historical contributions of the early pioneers, their descendents, and the controversy related to land grants, called 'Porciones' -- awarded by the King of Spain -- have, for the most part, remained in the background. This, then, is the principal objective of this book. The book provides summaries on the evolution, history, wars, and problems of Mexico. Using some of his ancestors as a sample, the author shows the hardships they endured and discusses their contribution in the formation of the two great nations that the United States and Mexico have become. At the same time, the book shows that the land grants (and heirs) took one of two alternate roads -- depending on their location -- when Texas and other territories were ceded to the United States. People and land grants located on the Mexican side were victims of the violent and blood soaked history that Mexico has had. On the other hand, those located on the U.S. side, were subjected to mischief and flagrant violations of the terms of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Sadly, in 1953, the Falcon Dam inundated Guerrero Viejo and many of the land grants. Thus, for all intents and purposes, the heirs of most land grants met the same end and a financial obligation (of $193.0 Million plus interest) exchanged between the U.S. and Mexico has remained unpaid for over 80 years. The reader will long-remember the amazing facts developed in this book.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - WHEN LABELS FAIL:A PARADOXICAL VIEW OF THE SUPREME COURTPresidents, Senators, lawyers, and pundits have been repeatedly confounded by the performance of justices on the Supreme Court throughout its history. Despite their best efforts to predict behavior of nominees for the Court, the justices defied… political categorization, such as:\* The lawyer who lost a states' rights case before the Supreme Court, but went on to become a pro-Federalist Chief Justice.\* The former Federalist politician who became a pro-states' rights Chief Justice.\* The progressive justice who outraged the progressive president who nominated him to the Court by voting against key anti-trust legislation.\* The co-founder of the American Civil Liberties Union who shocked former colleagues by consistently voting against major civil liberties and civil rights cases on the Court.\* The staunch New Deal supporter who came to favor individual rights and liberties over governmental power.\* The former Ku Klux Klan member who joined the majority in a decision against racial segregation.\* The justice appointed by a Democratic president who emerged as a conservative supporter of law and order.\* The originalist whose conservative methodology frequently leads to liberal results. This book explores the origin of separation of powers, how the Constitution created a judiciary designed to stand apart from the 'political' branches of government, and how justices have maintained independence as a third branch of government throughout the history of the Court.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - When I started working with Al Scaglione, I was twenty-two. I had had stomach ulcers since I was thirteen, a spastic colon since I was eighteen, and a titanium-fortified wall around my heart. I didn't trust myself or like myself very much. And it was through Al Scaglione's teaching that I saved my o…wn life. I can't put into words the gift of insight this man is blessed with. He truly sees the internal scars his students possess. At best I can say he is a psychiatrist, a healer, a teacher, and a loving father all at once. He doesn't do the work for you, nor promise you paradise. He deals in life. He taught me how to live. Through his methods of relaxation and concentration, he taught me to confront my pain, my anger, and my guilt without being afraid. It has been a fight. But, it's been a fight I needed to have. I was never alive. I was simply a mask of myself. I don't need that mask anymore. I've dealt with anger and I didn't kill anyone. I've balled my eyes out and no one laughed. I let others see my shame and guilt and no one thought the less of me. He taught me how to live without feeling suffocated. I began to see who I was without all my armor and baggage. Somewhere along the way, I discovered that I loved myself. J.L.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - A reform Jew; his Christian wife; an inexplicable illness that has struck at one of their children: thus begins the events that result in a search by Michael Klein for his true religious identity. Michael is a reform Jew whose knowledge of Judaism begins and ends with the fact that he is Jewish by b…irth. There are two children born to him and his wife, Susan. Following an agreement that they made when they married, their children were to be given the choice of whether to follow the Jewish religion, or the Christian, or even a combination of both. In the course of the marriage, Michael is gradually introduced to the religion of his wife. For the first time, he is introduced to religious ideas which go beyond the basic notion of morality which was stressed by his parents, but he still finds himself unsure of the direction he should take. Without an understanding of the Judaism of his ancestors he fears making a commitment to his wife's beliefs. When his son falls ill, he embarks on a road of discovery through a series of chance meetings which allows him to put both faiths to the test in order for him to make the fateful decision as to which one he will choose. A comparison of the two faiths is given through the review of Biblical passages; through the examination of scientific theory vs. religious beliefs; and through an exploration of history. It's a journey that will enlighten the reader with a different perspective of both Christianity and Judaism, and will change his understanding of religion in general.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Survival. Liberation. A New Life in America In this book, a story is told of how I have lived the past 76 years of my life. I grew up in a rich, affluent environment and after concentration camps, ended up starting a happy purposeful life in the United States of America. It is great to be an America…n. The life is only unusual to the point that I was just a happy kid growing up, going to school, until the Germans marched into Prague (Praha) on March 15, 1939. This is when everything came to a screeching halt. The first thing they did, if you can imagine, was to change the traffic pattern, overnight, from driving on the left to driving on the right. The streetcars now had the doors on the wrong side, and the buses also had to be boarded from the other side. They did this overnight! Thousands of German soldiers marched up and down the streets and created a lot of chaos, noise and drew little attention from the Czech people. I had no idea what was going on. The next thing that happened was all 'Jews' were advised of a curfew, which was after sundown; and before sunrise, no 'Jew' was allowed on the streets of Praha. Fortunately, I spoke a fluent German, because of my parents who were raised in the old Austrian Empire. We were told to wear the yellow Star of David with the words 'Jude' (Jew) on our outer garments. If the soldiers thought you were Jewish and were not wearing the star, you were beaten severely, or even shot and killed. My sister and I had no idea if we were Jewish; we had to ask our parents. My life then took a twist. The next years, 1939 to 1945, were spent in horrific ways and times, inside the concentration camps. You will find out how I was able to be freed again, return to my homeland, and then immigrated to the United States and lived here since August 5, 1946. I have no regrets about my life, I only wish that my family could have lived to an older age, and not have been slaughtered in the gas chambers! Klaus Pollak September 2006.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The Vineyard on Mulberry Street is a saga of the Ghirardis, an Italian American family, who leave their roots in Armento, Potenza, in Italy to relocate to Mulberry Street in New York's Lower East Side. It begins with Francesco Paolo Ghirardi who comes to America in 1890 to live with his uncle who ma…rries Angela when he was a young man and has four children. The eldest of the second generation, Catherine, develops into the beauty of the family, an Italian-American Scarlett O'Hara; strong, independent and enigmatic. When Catherine is nineteen, she meets and falls in love with a charismatic, powerful, political figure, Jack Paterno, at a ball she attends, but is warned by her father to stay away from him as he is married and has children. She continues to see Paterno despite the strong objections of her family, meeting in secret two days a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Jack cannot seek a divorce because of his close ties to the Catholic Church and his political aspirations, so eventually Catherine marries Dr. Martin Cabotte, a surgeon, and gives birth to a baby girl, Alessandra. Martin joins the Army, is transferred to Australia, and Catherine and her daughter move in with her mother and father in their new home in a small town in New Jersey. Catherine defies the mores of the time and continues the forbidden love affair while living in the highly traditional Catholic household. Meanwhile, the family refuses to sanction the arrangement, and Alessandra must bear the burden of living with her mother's secret, as well as trying to shield her from her grandmother's wrath. The two of them lead a double life, walking a tight rope between Jack's orbit of Washington D.C., meetings on Capitol Hill, courtrooms, dockets and banquets and the simple, warm comfort of the Ghirardi house in Oak Grove with the grape arbor in the back, where the three generations live under one roof. The story begins during World War II when patriotism is at an all time high and there are sharp distinctions between good and evil: as evidenced in the strict moral code of the Catholic church. We see America's home front; rations and food stamps, Black Market goods and swing shifts. Almost every family has someone in the Armed Services, never knowing if they will return. The Ghirardis are no different. Their youngest, Sonny, the family's 'golden boy,' is a naval officer on a battleship in enemy waters. We see the Sunday feasts, with O Sole Mio and guinea stinkers, tarantellas and Irish jigs, the wine cellar where the potent homemade brew is served to male guests who emerge glassy eyed and giddy and finally the grape arbor, the 'soul' of the house with its lush grapes and hearty vines. There are the Saturday afternoons with Aley in the kitchen with her grandmother, when her mother is out with Jack, as she listens to the matriarch's stories. And the other Saturday afternoons with Jack, Catherine and Aley at The French Place, a restaurant, their home away from home, where the three of them almost feel like a family. There are the threesome vacations at fancy resorts, Wednesday dinners at New York City's restaurants, Broadway shows (usually with a 'beard') and Jack's generous gifts. We become familiar with the eclectic cast of characters; Tot, another daughter, a cross between Snow White and Marilyn Monroe with her bosom jiggling Charlestons and Hick, her husband with his outrageous antics and whiskey 'ho-ho-ho's', delivering Christmas presents in the late afternoon because of his Christmas Eve hangover. The story progresses to include the Post-War years, the healing period of the fifties, then the colorful sixties beginning with Camelot and hope, the Civil Rights, Women's Liberation and Antiwar Movements and ending with assassinations, rage and despair while the lives of the family parallel the climate of the country. The tapestry, as seen through Aley's eyes, reveals.
