Hardcover. Zustand: Good. 11 vols. lxxxiii, 313; viii, 396; vii, 424; viii, 387; 434; xii, 379; xvi, 400; xi, 435; xxii, 405; vi, 431; vii, 530p. 23 cm blue cloth hardcover bindings with gold and blind impressing. 8 volumes feature a frontispiece engraving. Errata in each vol. of biography. Inside the pages are clean and the text unmarked. Many pages remain uncut throughout the set. Water damage to binding on vol. 3 with stains on spine and back board. Bindings on the other 10 volumes good with mainly shelf wear: bumped corners, worn extremes with the occasional tear in cloth, occasional scuffing. The last three volumes of this set are "A Life," by editor, Knight. Knight did some of the earliest work on the text of Wordsworth and he produced for this edition a chronological arrangement of the poems. His good intentions were not generally appreciated, but were excoriated. A contemptuous reference to his scholarship spoke of "chaos and old Knight." The historical significance of this set's controversial chronology of Wordsworth's poetry makes it a valuable resource for Wordsworth scholars and research libraries.
