Issued in 1985 as winner of the Water Mark Women Writers Award, "Travels of the Itinerant Freda Aharon" showcases Myra Sklarew's signature fusion of imagination, science, and feminist introspection through the continuing adventures of her alter-ego, Freda Aharon. The chapbook was typeset at The Writer's Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and designed by book artist Coco Gordon, who also produced the striking handmade indigo paper jacket. Printed on Mohawk Superfine stock, the volume represents a beautiful instance of American women's fine-press publishing in the 1980s?a tactile and conceptual collaboration between poet and bookmaker.
