Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. First Edition. (pictorial boards; no dust jacket, as issued) [nice clean book, as-new with no discernible wear]. (B&W photographs) From it's title, you might expect this to be a survey of the legendary Hollywood studio's first three-quarters of a century, but it's nothing of the sort; it's a little more self-serving (not to say insidious) than that. Rather than a history of any sort, it's actually a heavily photo-illustrated catalog of the films that were then (1997) part of the Warner Bros. film library -- which is to say, NOT just the films produced by the studio itself, but the many titles that they had come to control over the years as the result of various mergers and acquisitions. Thus, in flipping through the book, you encounter numerous films that in their initial conception and creation had nothing to do with Warner Bros. at all, but came out of two other dream factories: M-G-M (NORTH BY NORTHWEST, BOYS TOWN, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, DAVID COPPERFIELD, A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, etc.); and RKO (SWING TIME, I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE, even CITIZEN KANE, for God's sake). (And it's NOT, by the way, ALL the films in these various libraries: it's basically just the better-known "classics," or "greatest hits" if you prefer.) And it is indeed a catalog -- not a chronological survey -- with the films grouped within broad genres: Action/Adventure, Comedy, Drama (with sub-categories for Romance and Western), Family, Musicals/Rock, Sci-fi/Horror/Fantasy. Each film is represented by a single still (usually two or three on a page, and not very imaginatively selected) and a two-or-three-sentence description, and there are alphabetical indexes by title, director, screenwriter, and major performer (in which at least the non-WB movies are specified with a different color ink). Not produced for commercial sale, but rather for distribution within the industry -- probably just as well, because if you're a fan of Warner Bros. and their movies you'll be much better off with a copy of "The Warner Bros. Story" (not at all a rare book), which has the virtue of actually being ABOUT Warner Bros.! ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this large, heavy book; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order. Vintage studio still photograph from the 1975 film, mounted as issued by the distributor on a presentation card, showing actor Charles Durning shouting into a megaphone. Based on the 1974 novel by Patrick Mann, which was in turn based on a true story published in Life magazine. Director Sidney Lumet's masterpiece, a snapshot of New York invoking LGBTQ politics, city politics, police politics, personal politics, and the mood of a city in the heat of the early 1970s-all without being overtly political. The film follows an inexperienced robber and his friend over the course of a doomed bank heist, executed in order for the robber's girlfriend, a preoperative transgender woman, to afford gender confirmation surgery. Audio Book (DVD). Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. Special Edition. Three excellent color DVD Box set IN VERY GOOD SLIPCASE As the first dual biography, A House Divided does much more than explore the personal story of one of the most intriguing couples to have lived at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, it also reflects on the time of the Lincolns' lives and the parallels with a nation at war. Elected to the Oval Office only to see the nation split in two, Lincoln led a confused and frightened people through the most terrible conflict in their history. At the same time, his own household mirrored the fissures that tore the nation apart and divided families from Maine to Mississippi. The great emancipator was married to the daughter of a slave owner from Kentucky, a woman who was frequently accused of being a Confederate sympathizer and whose brother lost his life fighting Lincoln's armies.

Sakal on the flute in a scene from "The Time, The Place and The Girl". The number "647-47" is printed in white along the bottom right of the image. Sakall) and their granddaughter, Victoria (Martha Vickers), a promising opera singer and Drew's fiancee.".

Vintage studio still photograph from the 1950 film. Based on Dorothy Baker's 1938 novel of the same name. Loosely based on the life of Bix Beiderbeck, an influential jazz cornetist who died prematurely at the age of 28. In the film, Kirk Douglas plays the Beiderbeck character, here named Rick Martin. His career is constantly on the rocks, owing in part to his insistence on improvisation despite his band leader's request he stick to the written music, and in part to his alcoholism. Notable for implying that one of the main characters was homosexual, although this was not overtly expressed in the film. Shot on location in California and New York. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.

Vintage studio still photograph of Gale Sondergaard from the 1976 film. Sequel to the 1970 film "A Man Called Horse." John Morgan returns to the Americas to help his now threatened Sioux tribe. Once a prisoner of the tribe, he was accepted as one of their own after proving himself as a warrior. The film received mixed reviews, mostly reacting to the white male savior plot line as well as the gruesome "initiation rite" scene, which was repeated in both films.
