A charming account of the old inns of St. Albans, a cathedral city in Hertfordshire, England. With specific reference to The Peahen, a public house in St. Albans acting as an inn on the site since the fifteenth century. The original half-timbered building served as one of a number of coaching inns on Holywell Hill. Written and illustrated by Frederick George Kitton, a British wood-engraver, author, and illustrator best known for illustrating and editing the works of Charles Dickens. In the original paper wraps. Externally, sound with light wear and the odd small crease to the extremities. Spotting to the wraps with sunning to the spine. A small closed tear to the tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound.
