Dragonerregiment Eugen Prinz von Savoyen" Nr. 13 - Das Regiment wurde 1682 als Dragoner-Regiment Kuefstein für die kaiserlich-habsburgische Armee errichtet. Aus diesem entwickelte sich im Laufe der Zeit bis hin zur Gemeinsamen Armee innerhalb der Österreichisch-Ungarischen Landstreitkräfte das k.u.k. Dragonerregiment Eugen Prinz von Savoyen" Nr. 13. 1769 wurde dem Regiment in der neu errichteten Kavallerie-Rangliste die Bezeichnung Cavallerie-Regiment Nr. 9 zugeteilt. Der Name lautete jedoch bis 1798 weiterhin nach dem Regimentsinhaber (der nicht auch der Kommandant sein musste). Eine verbindliche Regelung der Schreibweise existierte nicht (zum Beispiel Regiment Graf Serbelloni oder Regiment Serbelloni). Mit jedem Inhaberwechsel änderte das betroffene Regiment dann auch seinen Namen. Nach der Änderung des Systems 1798 galt vorrangig die nummerierte Bezeichnung, die unter Umständen mit dem Namen des Inhabers verbunden werden konnte. Hierbei erfolgte zunächst die Umbenennung in Dragoner-Regiment (leichtes) Nr. 15. Seit 1895 hatte das Regiment seinen Namen auf immerwährende Zeit" zu führen. Des ungeachtet wurden im Jahre 1915 alle Ehrennahmen ersatzlos gestrichen. Das Regiment hieß von da an nur noch k.u.k. Dragonerregiment Nr. 13 (dies ließ sich in der Praxis jedoch nicht durchsetzen, einerseits weil sich niemand daran hielt, andererseits weil die sehr sparsame k.u.k. Given the nearly 25-year span over which the printing took place it is remarkably difficult to find sets of this edition complete. Volumes I-VI (1755); VII (1763-4); VIII (1765); X-XI (1766); XII-XIII (1768); [lacking Volumes IX (1775) and XIV (1779)]. Full bound in contemporary mottled calf with morocco title and volume labels (through numbered I-XII) with some chipping and loss. 19th century rebacks to some volumes; more recently, damage to spines and boards have been repaired; though there is cracking and tenderness to some spines, they are now relatively stable. All volumes offered are from the First Quarto Edition except the Letters X & XI which appear to be a reprint dated the same year as the First Edition. Volume X states "New Edition," and both X & XI have a variant collation from what Teerink suggests; both appear complete. All volumes complete but for Volume VII which is lacking a half title. All 26 full-page copperplate engravings plus 4 pages of Cantata are present as called for by Teerink. Notably, the same engravings were used for the octavo editions. Only the quarto edition has a large frame around the image to make it congruous to the page size. This copy belonged to Sir John Frederick, Baronet of Burwood House and bears his very tasteful engraved bookplate in most volumes. (Teerink 87). Very Good binding.

Strahan's ledger shows that a printing charge was made to the proprietors of the Dictionary at least as early as December, 1750. By the beginning of 1753, Johnson had resolved his differences with booksellers, and progress became more rapid, though he did not start the second volume until April, 1753. The Dictionary was officially published on April 15, 1755, in an edition of 2000 copies, and sold at the high price of £4-10s-0d.
