Exterior shows considerable wear to the spine and edges with boards barely hanging on just by the binder string. Leather to spine is dry and brittle with large section broken off. A spine section is separated and is inside of the book. Interior binding is complete with all pages present. For the most part the binding is secure though pages around pages 413-420 the binding is pulling and the pages are sticking out a bit. Pages are tone due to age and scattered foxing is present with the end pages and pastedowns being the worst. Signed on the front end page by Edwin H. Stow, who was the President Judge (Chief Justice) of the fifth district in Pennsylvania. Note: this is the original publication from the 1800s and not a modern reprint. This is the 1844 printing of volume 1 which was first published in 1808. Signed by Other.

Exterior shows scuffing/soiling, spine is darkened and edges/corners show wear. Leather is starting to crack at exterior hinges with front board cracked almost the entire length. Hinge is also cracked on inside of front board and front board is basically held on by the binding string. Front pastedown contains the law publisher business label of Geo. T. Bisel Company along with the signature of the attorney R. H. Gilbert. Front pastedown also contains an 1889 chart of case numbers. Remaining binding is good and text pages are secure. Pages are tone due to age and some minor foxing and spotting is present. Only other handwriting found in the book is in the corner of the front end page where there is evidence of a bookstore price once penciled.
