Wear to extremities with the corners rubbed through, covers somewhat soiled, gilt bright, gift inscription on front pastedown, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. Born in St Pancras, London, Elsie Jean Craxford [1901-1927] was an Assistant School Mistress. She was educated at Furzedown College, London, and this collection of her poetry and drawings was collected by her friends at Furzedown after her untimely death at age 26.

22x18, illustrated boards. Corners rather rubbed, boards marked; contents good. The text's cloying sentimentality and casual racism have not stood the test of time; the illustrations remain highly attractive. A curious Blatchford item.

Lady Wentworth was the daughter of Wilfrid Scawen and Lady Anne Blunt, who in 1878 founded Crabbet Park Stud with the first Arabian horses brought to England. This nicely illustrated guide to the breeding stock at Crabbet Park includes several images of Skowronek, a gray stallion for which Wentworth once received an offer of $250,000.
