George MacDonald (1824-1905) was a Scottish author, poet and Christian minister. He was a pioneering figure in the field of modern fantasy literature and mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. "What's Mine's Mine", first published in 1886, is set in the Scottish Highlands and follows the trials and tribulations of various characters intertwined in a struggle over land and possessions. The book is bound in the original grey simulated leather boards with gold titling and a sword and crest on the spine, gold titling with a gold coat of arms and crest together with black designs on the front board, and a blind-stamped facsimile signature of the author on the rear board. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription.

"The Seaboard Parish" was first published in 1868, and is the second novel of a trilogy, set in the fictional village of Marshmallows, that follows a new vicar named Harry Walton as he navigates parish life and helps villagers overcome past secrets and pride. The book is bound in the original blue simulated leather boards with gold titling and a sword and crest on the spine, gold titling with a gold coat of arms and crest together with black designs on the front board, and a blind-stamped facsimile signature of the author on the rear board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some light soiling to the boards. The contents are tight and clean with a name, date and number written on a printed facsimile of Macdonald's bookplate at the start of the book and a number written above the publisher's details on the title-page.
