This beautifully illustrated two-volume set provides a facsimile of Fuchs's herbal (originally published in 1542 and reproduced here for the first time), together with a volume of in-depth interpretive commentary on its organization, content, influence, a biographical sketch of Fuchs, and a chronological listing of his published works. All 511 woodcuts of plants in the are identified with their modern botanical names. The commentary volume, with text by Frederick G. Meyer, Emily Emmart Trueblood and John L.
