A lovely collection of four first editions of The Countryman periodical, including the 1935 January to March magazine, followed by the Summer 1951, Winter 1951 and Summer 1952 publications.In the publisher's original green soft covers.Profusely illustrated throughout, including with numerous contemporary advertisements. Both 1951 editions feature sixteen pages of plates, and the 1952 edition contains seventeen pages of plates. The 1935 edition also features a range of full-page and double-spread images.Founded in 1927 by British journalist and author John William Robertson Scott, The Countryman was an initially quarterly agriculture and rural-life magazine. The periodical ran up until 2023, reaching its peak in the 1990s with a circulation of around 23,000. In the publisher's original green soft covers. Externally, very smart with slight shelf wear, resulting in light creasing and a number of small closed tears to edges. Covers mildly discoloured with the odd mark. Internally, the first and last few pages of each work a little more delicate, otherwise firmly bound.
