The names 'Cheddar' and 'Sheppard' signed separately on front endpapers. The name 'William Sheppard' signed twice on pave 255 and twice more on rear endpapers. Text printed in double columns. Measures 9 x 11.75 inches. 38 hand colored plates at the end (there should be 40). Plates have a bit of fading but are bright and attractive all the same. Culpeper's Complete Physician was written several years earlier, but was not combined with the Herbal until 1814. A popular reference that has nearly attained an iconic status now, for its plates.
