About the book >.>.> Almost three years after the group exhibition Unto This Last, which included several photographs, assemblages and make-up drawings by Bela Kol?rov?, Raven Row is now in the fortunate position to give the work of the late Czech artist the attention we feel it deserves. At the turn of the sixties, and in less than half a decade, Kol?rov? pioneered an art based on small, intimate objects often associated with domesticity and the feminine. In this period her work progressed from using mundane objects as photographic negatives to photographing them in vari-ous configurations and shapes, and ultimately gluing them directly onto surfaces in works that dispensed with photogra-phy altogether. In a statement from 1968, which is reprinted here, she retraces this development, in which the object is both the end and means of the work of art. The selection of works on display in this posthumous retrospective spans the artist's career to include docu-mentary photographs from the late fifties, camera-less experiments ('artificial.

In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: As new, shrinkwrapped. First Edition. 22 x 28cm as new, shrinkwrapped exhibition catalogue. This is the first survey of work by Stephen Willats from the sixties. Willats (born and lives in London) was introduced to art as a teenage gallery assistant in 1958 and by 1962 was producing advanced artwork. He embraced the transdiscipli?n?arity of the time, juggling the roles of social scientist, engineer, designer and artist, and developed an art about social interaction, using models derived from cybernetics, the hybrid post-war science of communication. As well as the clothing and furniture made in 1965 when he briefly described himself as a conceptual designer , Willats s earliest sculptural series of Manual Variables is haptic and interactive. These are shown alongside early issues of Control, the still-operating magazine he founded in the same period. Its title is a provocation, invoking the cybernetic idea that people can take control of their environments, thereby deflecting the controls of a dominant hierarchy.

In den Warenkorb32pp. 8vo., unbound. Very slightly soiled on the outside but generally very good. Although Carstares was a strong and pivotal supporter of the Act of Union, and the Hanoverian succession, as this pamphlet shows, he was alarmed by intereference with Scottish religious affairs by the Parliament in London. He pointed to the ways in which a bill to give Scottish Episcopalians greater freedom would disrupt and threaten the security of the Church of Scotland and of the state as well. It was the chief object of his policy at this time to prevent Lord Oxford from strenghtening the Episcopalian Jacobites, especially two bills, one of which extended their privileges and the other which would have placed in the hands of old patrons the right of patronage which the Revolution Settlement had put in the hands of the elders and the Protestants.
