Softcover/Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. Peter Moore.Five photographs of People at an Exhibition in 1961. New York: Peter Moore, 1961. Photographic prints. Approximately 7" x 5".Very good.Unobtrusive bumping, creasing, and wear to edges. Some soiling to back. Five photographs taken by artist Peter Moore of an exhibition and a group of people posing for the camera, looking at art, looking at other people. Perhaps related to Moore's day job at the New School? All five stamped on back "Peter Moore 22 West 24th Street New York 10, N.Y. AL-5-7628 Order No. Dec 19 1961".Handwritten numbers as well. As part of New York's blossoming art community in the early 1960s, Peter Moore (b. 1932, London, UK, d. 1993, New York) produced an unmatched photographic archive of Fluxus, Judson Dance Theater, and countless "Happenings," capturing in his photographs the defiance and spirit of the era's experimental performances. Moore began his career in New York as a photo lab technician at Life magazine, and in the 1970s and 80s, he wrote prolifically on the mechanics of photography for Modern Photography magazine.

No binding. Zustand: Near Fine. New York: Peter Moore, 1974. Two vintage original 8 x 10" (20 x 25 cm) double weight black-and-white photos, both with stamp on verso of photographer Peter Moore. Both have With photo agency stickers and extensive annotations on verso describing the photo, in Charlotte Moorman's hand, and signed by her. Vertical photo has an affixed label "Request for Proof" on Village Voice editorial paper, and is near fine. Horizontal photo has publication marks in red and a long vertical crease at center, very good-. Charlotte Moorman was an important avant-garde artist. In 1963 she founded the Annual Avant Garde Festival of New York, which presented the experimental music of the Fluxus group and Happenings alongside performance, kinetic art, and video art. There were fifteen festivals from 1963 to 1980. As well as being a star performer of avant-garde pieces, she was an effective spokesperson and negotiator for advanced art, charming the bureaucracies of New York and other major cities into co-operating and providing facilities for controversial and challenging performances. The years of the Avant Garde Festival marked a period of unparalleled understanding and good relations between advanced artists and local authorities. Friend and artist Jim McWilliams created numerous memorable pieces for her to perform at the New York Avant Garde Festivals, including Sky Kiss which involved her hanging suspended from helium-filled weather balloons for the Sixth Avant Garde Festival, and The Intravenous Feeding of Charlotte Moorman for the 1973 edition.
