Illustrated throughout with a handful of black & white photos and illustrations, including a photograph of the author. This copy is inscribed "All the wealth of the world cannot buy a friend, or pay for the loss of one. To Daisy from Leila, Christmas 1913." The inscription is written in black ink on the front attached endpaper. The corners and crown/foot of the spine are bumped and chipped. The boards have some wear from rubbing and the front cover has a 1 inch discolored spot above the title. Light toning throughout, as well as some creased corners. No marks or writing; the binding is strong. A rare book of African-American history. Signed by Author(s).
