Leather. Zustand: Fair - Cash. Green leather with gold lettering and detailing on the spine, as well as a gold seal in the middle of the front cover. The cover has general surface and edge wear. Scuffing to the edges of the spine and to the back cover. The corners have been bumped. There's a tear in the leather starting in the bottom right corner, it goes up a little under half way before coming back down. The tear reveals the boarding beneath. Two more small tears are at the top of the spine. There's some soiling to the cover. The ribbon bookmark has been cut off at the base. Previous owner's name inside. Pages show reader wear. There are several cracks in the spine throughout the book. Binding is still tight and pages are secure. Stock photos may not look exactly like the book.

Hardcover. Zustand: Good - Cash. No Jacket. **Signed by Charles R. Mabey, former Governor of Utah. Dated July 18th, 1893. Maroon leather for the spine with gold gilt lettering and detailing. The hardboards of the covers have a marbled design with reds, blues, black, and tan. The page edges have been sprayed with the same marbled design and colors. General surface and edge wear to the cover. The cornes have been bumped, and the boards are beginning to show. The boards are also beginning to come through on the bottom edge of the cover, a bit on the side edge, and the top edge of the spine as well. There's discoloration to the leather on the spine, turning the maroon on the main edge of the spine more of a tan. The gold gilt lettering and designs are still vibrant. The pages show reader wear and are tanned from age. Binding is tight and pages are secure. Stock photos may not look exactly like the book.

First edition, engraved title, engraved dedication plus 50 engraved leaves (the last folding) incorporating text and illustration within a ruled border; leaves are printed on one side only; contemporary full mottled calf, gilt-decorated spine in 6 compartments, red morocco label in 1; joints cracked; very good. Design and construction of early French ships of war and naval art and science. The title, dedication, preface, table of contents and all illustrations and text are etchings by Nicolas-Marie Ozanne. The title is within an elaborate naval-themed architectural frame. The first dedication leaf, "à monseigneur le Duc de Choiseul," is a full page illustration with a royal coat of arms.
