Yetzirah is more literally translated as 'Formation'; the word Briah is used for 'Creation'. The book is traditionally ascribed to the patriarch Abraham, although others attribute its writing to Rabbi Akiva. Modern scholars have not reached consensus on the question of its origins. According to Rabbi Saadia Gaon, the objective of the book's author was to convey in writing from a Jewish perspective how the things of our universe came into existence. Translated from the Hebrew, with annotations by Knut Stenring. Includes the 32 paths of wisdom, their correspondence with the Hebrew alphabet and the Tarot symbols and with an introduction by Arthur Edward Waite.

Carver answered an ad placed by 'Doc' William Frank Carver in 1923 for a diving girl and soon earned a place in circus history. Her job was to mount a running horse as it reached the top of a forty-foot (sometimes sixty-foot) tower and sail down along the animal's back as it plunged into a deep pool of water directly below. Sonora was a sensation and soon became the lead diving girl for Doc Carver's act as they traveled the country. In 1931, Sonora was blinded, a retinal detachment, due to hitting the water off-balance with her eyes open.while diving her horse, Red Lips, on New Jersey's Steel Pier, the act's permanent home since 1929. After her accident Sonora continued to dive horses until 1942.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Along with many others of the depression era healers, Franlin Hall grew up in rural poverty and was deeply religious. Initially he was with the Methodist church but their stance against healing forced him elsewhere. During the depression and World War II he travelled as an independent evangelist. In 1946, he published a brief book entitled 'Atomic Power with God through Prayer and Fasting.' The book, which provided detailed information on the methods and benefits of fasting, was an immediate success and brought Hall considerable fame. According to Hall, all of the major evangelists began following his fasting regime and miracles erupted everywhere. Many observers of the early revival years agreed, as one said, 'Every one of these men down through the years followed Franklin Hall's method of fasting.' 'Gloried Fasting' further explores the significance of fasting for Christians and provides vivid testimonials from those transformed by their experiences with fasting.

Neuware - In this classic of political and social psychology, Joost Meerloo attempts to account for the mechanisms of mind that have made the brainwashing techniques of totalitarian states so historically successful. His frightening conclusion, that 'hardly anyone can resist,' appeals to mechanisms undergirding human thought, many of which are not obviously available to individuals.

Austin was a British philosopher of language and leading proponent of ordinary language philosophy, perhaps best known for developing the theory of speech acts. Austin pointed out that we use language to do things as well as to assert things, and that the utterance of a statement like 'I promise to do so-and-so' is best understood as doing something - making a promise - rather than making an assertion about anything. Hence the name of one of his best-known works How to Do Things with Words. Austin, in providing his theory of speech acts, makes a significant challenge to the philosophy of language, far beyond merely elucidating a class of morphological sentence forms that function to do what they name. Austin's work ultimately suggests that all speech and all utterance is the doing of something with words and signs, challenging a metaphysics of language that would posit denotative, propositional assertion as the essence of language and meaning.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - In one of the truly great classics of twentieth-century political economy, R. H. Tawney addresses the question of how religion has affected social and economic practices. He does this by a relentless tracking of the influence of religious thought on capitalist economy and ideology since the Middle Ages. In so doing he sheds light on why Christianity continues to exert a unique role in the marketplace. In tough, muscular, richly varied prose, he tells an absorbing and meaningful story.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Notes on Democracy is a harsh critique of democracy. The book places political leaders into two categories: the demagogue, who 'preaches doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots' and the pandering politician, 'who listens to what these idiots have to say and then pretends that he believes it himself.' Mencken depicts politicians as 'men who have sold their honor for their jobs.'.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The title refers to the legendary Seal of Solomon, a ring that supposedly gave King Solomon the power to speak to animals. Lorenz claimed to have achieved this feat of communication and of being 'understood' by several species, by raising them in and around his home and observing their behavior and personally interacting with them. King Solomon's Ring describes the scientific methods of his investigation and his fascinating resulting conclusions about animal psychology.

Kelso, created the employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) to enable the employees of a closely held newspaper chain to buy out its retiring owners.
