Jody Pinto (nata nel 1942 a New York) è un'artista ambientale, scultrice e attivista femminista statunitense nota a livello internazionale per le sue opere pubbliche site-specific che fondono arte, architettura e paesaggio.Il suo lavoro esplora profondamente il concetto di "corpo/terra" (body/land), una filosofia che traccia parallelismi tra le forme e i sistemi del corpo umano (ferite, cicatrici, vene, capelli) e quelli dell'ambiente naturale (irrigazioni, crescita delle piante, cicli di erosione e guarigione). Fra le sue opere principali si ricordano Fingerspan (1987): Situata nel Wissahickon Valley Park di Filadelfia. Si tratta di una passerella pedonale in acciaio a forma di dito umano che scavalca una gola, integrandosi perfettamente nell'ambiente naturale e permettendo ai visitatori di camminare letteralmente al suo interno. Nel 2014 una sua installazione "Land Buoy" a Filadelfia funge da monumento e boa terrestre sul molo in cui sbarcarono i suoi nonni, immigrati.La Pinro ha partecipato a numerose manifestazioni internazionali, fra cui Biennale di Venezia del 1980 e la Whitney Biennial del 1979, fino alla recente Groundswell: Women of Land Art (2023) al Nasher Sculpture Center di Dallas, focalizzata sul ruolo centrale e spesso trascurato delle donne nel movimento della Land Art. Oltre alla sua prolifica carriera visiva, Pinto è stata una figura cardine della seconda ondata femminista. Durante il suo soggiorno a Filadelfia nei primi anni '70, ha fondato e diretto la WOAR (Women Organized Against Rape) nel 1973.…
