In den WarenkorbThe "commemorative edition", signed limited issue, number 5 of 20 copies signed by the author on the limitation plate and specially bound. This edition was "issued to commemorate his 50th year as a science fiction writer and his recognition as Guest of Honor at the 39th World Science Fiction Convention - Denver, 1981." From the total edition of 500 copies published for the convention, 20 were signed (as here), 20 were reserved for the press, and a further 10 were reserved for presentation. This novelette, narrated by a psychologist investigating the nature of dreams, was first published in 1935 in Marvel Tales, then again separately in 1946. This edition is notable for its four "appreciations" in the form of letters to the author by science fiction writers of the 20th century, including Isaac Asimov and Robert A. Heinlein. The latter writes that "since the earliest thirties, to read science fiction is to read Simak. A reader who does not like Simak stories does not like science fiction at all." Octavo. This copy with pp. xix-xxvi misbound between pp. 6-7. Original blue cloth, titles to front board in gilt. Foot of spine lightly bumped, else fine.
