[0-9730821-0-0] 2001. (Mass market paperback) Very good. 113+. 4to. A family history and incredible story of millionaire Larry Wilson, born in Moose Jaw, but lived most of his life in Winnipeg. Prior to his death, he bought the Capitol Theatre in Moose Jaw for $350,000 and gave it to the city. After an $8.3 million renovation, the theatre, art gallery, and reheaaarsal complex opened in June, 2004. This book about the family was written at the request of Mr. Wilson. The theatre is named after Wilson's mother, Mae, who ran a dance studio in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and passed her artistic inclinations on to her six children. Clean, crisp, tight, bright, and profusely illustrated with black and white photographs.

He studied fine art at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg from 1972â"78 and moved to Perth in 1982. He lectured in various universities and art schools for over 20 years, while maintaining a regular exhibition schedule. In 2017 he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy from Curtin University.Alex Spremberg's work is inspired by everyday life. The ordinary objects that we handle on a daily basis often provide the raw materials for his work. From matchboxes, cardboard packaging to vinyl records and their covers, as well as newsprint, tea bags and shopping trolleys - these materials have been altered and incorporated into his practice. The processes he devises for these objects emphasise their materiality and make the passage of time tangible. He uses these items to investigate the idiosyncrasies of human perception within the context of a non-objective art practice.Alex Sprembergâs works reside in many prominent public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Art Gallery of South Australia, The University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, Artbank; Bankwest, Wesfarmers, Woodside, the Janet Holmes à Court Collection, and Daimler Chrysler Contemporary, Berlin. Softcover. Zustand: FINE. The University of Western Australia Art Collection is one of the most important collections of paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture in Western Australia. The UWA Art Collection originates from the acquisition of books and art works by Professor Walter Murdoch whilst on a trip to Europe in 1927, with funds provided by the Hackett Bequest. The purchase of art works began in earnest in the late 1940s with funds from a number of generous bequests, including The Tom Collins Memorial Fund. This fund enabled the purchase a series of nine important paintings by Sidney Nolan from the late 1940s, inspired by the artistâs outback tour of north Queensland in 1947.The UWA Art Collection also houses significant mid-twentieth century Australian art by figures such as Charles Blackman, Arthur Boyd, Ian Fairweather and Fred Williams. In addition, the UWA Art Collection holds a rich selection of works by Western Australian artists, such as Howard Taylor, Guy Grey-Smith and Elise Blumann, which focus on a Modernist vision of the Western Australian landscape. The UWA Art Collection continues to acquire works and is committed to purchasing contemporary art. Focus on the acquisition of art of the present day has been in evidence from the beginning of its collecting history in the mid-twentieth century. In the past ten years major acquisitions have included works by Julie Dowling, Susan Norrie and Imants Tillers. pp. 146 colour illusts #0817D #0821/041221 Elizabeth's Bookshops have been one of Australia's premier independent book dealers since 1973. Australian Art WEST AUSTRALIANAÂ Biography -If you are from the Western Suburbs of Perth (which we are), you will have seen decades of Ross Seaton's stooped figure walking miles and miles along Stirling Highway near Nedlands. What you may not have known, is that Seaton was an amazing artist.Ross Seaton (1944-2020) was a well-known local figure, renowned for his long walks along Stirling Highway to the ocean.Over the past 30 years, SeatonÂmade extraordinary paintings and drawings in his front garden in Nedlands which documented his complex and interdisciplinary view of the world. The first large-scale exhibition devoted to his work,ÂThe Master of Nedlands was curated by LWAG Director, Professor Ted Snell AM CitWA, and brings together a selection of Seaton's compelling works to document the artist's unique vision.Originally scheduled as part of the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery 2020 exhibition program,ÂThe Master of Nedlands was re-conceived as a digital exhibition due to COVID-19. When Seaton sadly passed away in May 2020, LWAG staff worked to present it as part of the UWA Away program in response to community sentiment to see Seaton's work in person. This new, expansive project featured an in-person exhibition at the Naval Store in Fremantle, an online presentation delving into the themes and ideas in Seaton's artwork and a new monograph exploring his life and work. Published in conjunction with "Ross Seaton: The Master of Nedlands", an online exhibition held between 4 December 2020 and 4 December 2021. 116 pages : colour illustrations ; 29 cm SCARCE Seaton, Ross, 1944-2020 Seaton, Ross, 1944-2020 -- Exhibitions Painting, Australian -- Western Australia -- Exhibitions Painters -- Western Australia -- Biography Art, Modern -- 20th century -- Exhibitions Art , Modern -- 21st century -- Exhibitions First Edition. #190925 Several relevant enclosures Elizabeth's Bookshops have been one of Australia's premier independent book dealers since 1973.
