First editions, except for volumes 1, 2 and 12. Octavo. Twelve volumes, the twelfth being the Anthology and Index. Each volume, apart from the last, has a different frontispiece. When Claire Clairmont followed Byron to Switzerland, and in fact got there before he did, the poet wrote: "What could I do? a foolish girl in spite of all I could say or do would come after me or rather went before me for I found her here. I could not exactly play the Stoic with a woman who had scrambled eight hundred miles to unphilosophize me." The correspondence stands with the greatest of all time. A fine set in fine dustwrappers.
