As a senior in college, I talked to my physician and found out I was a breech baby and was pulled out by my feet at birth. Having a cracked vertebra explains the major pain I experienced as a kid and daily throughout my life. The physician then described my cracked vertebra as a 'Scottish dog' break because the x-ray resembled that of a Scottish dog. I want to express to my readers a vivid picture of the agony I felt as a four-year-old kid simply putting on my socks or trying to tie my shoes. I also want to share the tragic moment as a thirteen-year-old teenager when I broke my foot and the sole of my foot flipped over. This incident encouraged me to use the word sole in the title of this nonfiction saga. even though my soul was devastated by the traumatic event, the visual of my sole affected my psyche tremendously.
