Tips and spine head are lightly worn, spine tail a bit more worn, insect hole near tail of spine (above publisher's name) and front inner hinge partially cracked due to insect damage now reinforced with archival (removable) tape, contents very good and unmarked. Boards near fine, lightly dusted, and gently rubbed to corners. Spine dulled and worn to ends. Front hinge split but binding secure. Interiors fine and clean. Faint previous owner name to ffep. Maps neatly folded.

Small bookseller's label at front paste-down (Blackwell's) The book is clean inside, a little rubbing to the cloth at the spine ends. The binding is a little tender. Overall grades Very Good.

Original cloth slightly faded and used. Very good. First published in 1879, this book is a small milestone in the history of fly fishing, almost certainly produced by James Ogden himself. Ogden fished with his father in Derbyshire, later coming south to Cheltenham where he perfected a practical method of dry-fly fishing. In this trail-blazing book he proposes the separation between any-method fishing and fly fishing. The hub of this book is the description of Ogden's method with the floating fly, which he claims to have invented 40 years before his book was published. .

Fleming's exploratory expedition in search of a route for a transcontinental railway crossed the Rocky Mountains by the Yellow Head Pass, journeyed along the north Thompson River to Kamloops, and from there to Yale and the Pacific. Most of the plates in Grant's account are after photographs taken by Charles Horetzky. Completed in 1885, the Canadian Pacific Railway played a crucial role in the development of the nation.
