The first three volumes were first published in 1590, then republished in 1596 together with books IV?VI. There are over 36,000 lines and over 4,000 stanzas in the work in its entirety, one of the longest poems in the English language and provides a template of sorts for chivalric poetry, according to his Wikipedia entry. This volume rebacked quite finely, over six raised bands, with original front and rear panels reincorporated here, sharp gilt lettering to title compartment on spine.
