hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 2nd. Blue cloth boards have minor shelf wear, binding tight, pages clean and unmarked. Lynchburg in the Civil War: The City?the People?the Battle provides a comprehensive study of Lynchburg during the Civil War. It highlights the city?s role as a major army hospital center, a vital quartermaster depot for the Army of Northern Virginia, and a crucial rail link connecting the Old Dominion with the western theater of operations in Tennessee. During the Battle of Lynchburg in June 1864, Union forces, led by General David Hunter, attempted to capture the city but ultimately turned back, believing the Confederate forces were too strong. The battle was a pivotal moment in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign and had significant implications for both sides. Includes a folded map affixed to the rear cover.

Hardback. Zustand: Like New. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: None. SIGNED LIMITED EDITION (975 of 1,000), First Edition (Stated). - No marks, Binding is tight and square. Gently read if at all. 124 pages : portraits ; 24 cm. . . . . . . . Petersburg Campaign: Abraham Lincoln at City Point, March 20-April 9, 1865 is a focused narrative study of Abraham Lincoln's final visit to the front during the closing weeks of the Petersburg Campaign, tracing his activities at City Point as he conferred with Grant and other commanders, reviewed troops, visited hospitals, and witnessed the collapse of Confederate defenses. Drawing on contemporary accounts, official reports, and photographs, the book situates Lincoln's two week stay within the broader military and political context of March - April 1865, illuminating how his presence at the James River headquarters shaped Union strategy, morale, and the transition from war toward peace in the campaign's final days. . . . . . . Donald C. Pfanz was a Civil War historian and career National Park Service interpreter who spent thirty-two years at key battlefields including Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania, Petersburg National Battlefield, and Fort Sumter, and was a founding member of the Association for the Preservation of Civil War Sites, the forerunner of today's American Battlefield Trust. A graduate of the College of William and Mary, he authored several well-regarded Civil War studies - among them Richard S. Ewell: A Soldier's Life, War So Terrible: A Popular History of the Battle of Fredericksburg, and Clara Barton's Civil War, and was widely recognized for his contributions to battlefield preservation and historical interpretation until his death in 2025.

hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Signed Limited edition, this being 520 out 1000 copies. Gray cloth boards have minor shelf wear, binding tight, pages clean and unmarked. The focus of the Virginia Regimental History Series is on the activities of a particular Virginia unit in the American Civil War. If the reader desires to know more about a particular engagement, he should refer to bat-tle, campaign, or other regimental or unit histories. Hearty thanks are due to Harold Howard for the opportunity to prepare the history of this group of men. Their part in the struggle for Southern Independence has been largely overlooked in previous records and published works. Perhaps it is not yet possible for an American, especially a Southerner to be completely objective about the American Civil War. Nonetheless, I have attempted to record as faithfully as possible the contribution the Nottoway Light Artillery and Barr's Battery, Virginia Light Artillery. One specific difficulty discovered in researching these units, especially in the Nottoway Artillery, was the lack of primary source materials. While it is understood that the artillery was along on several expeditions, it is very difficult to determine their exact duties without primary material. Thanks to my wife, Patti, for her patience in the travels required to prepare any history such as this. Her encouragement in this project and support in all my research projects is appreciated. Robert K. Krick is commended for allowing me access to his extensive files on Virginia's Civil War units. Mr. Greg leans of Crewe, Virginia enlightened me about Notto-way County history and personalities. Mr. Larry Williamson of the Notto-way Historical Society also provided valuable clues used to further the research. Their assistance is appreciated.
