Group of 15 posters, each measuring approximately 20" x 27" in a slightly larger string-tied portfolio with applied cover label and nicely silkscreened pastedowns. Posters are printed by either silkscreen or chromolithography, with one engraving. Portfolio with modest wear, a bit of sunning at the topedge and the cover modestly foxed, very good or better; the posters are near fine with very light foxing, four (all by Eggers) modestly so, and occasional light wear. Each print is Signed by the artists, and, is along with the portfolio, designated as number 43 of 50. A striking collection of posters from Hanover's Galerie Brusberg. Three are art pieces and the other 12 advertise shows held at the gallery. The collection includes eight posters (including one engraving) by W. P. Eberhard Eggers; five collaborations between Thomas Bayrle and Bernhard Jäger; one by Jäger only; and one by Bayrle only. In 1961 Bayrle and Jäger founded the Gulliver Press, making a name for themselves as printers and publishers of artists' books; it is very likely this portfolio was printed by them. Of particular note is the silkscreen print by Bayrle titled "Grüner Schuhmann" ("Green Shoe Man"). Bayrle is now acknowledged as a key figure in European Pop art: "the Kraftwerk of German art" as he is described in a 2018 monograph published by Phaidon. In an essay published in that book, Daniel Birnbaum writes: "Like no other German artist, Thomas Bayrle has shown the world the hypnotic pleasures of mechanical repetition." This pattern of repeating shoes was used to cover the 180' entranceway to the prestigious Frieze London fair in 2012 under the title *Sloping Loafers*. The posters advertise shows for Fernando Botero; Jorge Castillo and Alfred Lörcher; Hans Bellmer and Unica Zürn; Kumi Sugai, Iida, and Morita; Emil Schumacher and Werner Reichhold; the German surrealist Ursula Schultze-Bluhm; Karl Heidelbach; and four group shows, one of which, "Op / Pop / Hard Edge / Meister der Moderne," featured prints by Albers, Hockney, Arp, Braque, Chagall, Dalí, Giocometti, Miró, and Picasso.
