Then it aims to discuss the differences between both contracts and their role as an important risk management tool to remove risk.In the course of a globalised world, an increasing number of companies have trade partners not only on a national basis but also on an international basis. This in turn has led to the fact that companies trading on an international basis have been concerned about fluctuations in all kinds of financial prices. Financial prices include foreign exchange rates, interest rates, commodity prices and equity prices, whereas the foreign exchange rate has become the biggest issue for many companies (Sooran, C., 2005). The effect of changes in these prices on reported earnings can be overwhelming, so that companies try to protect themselves against exchange rate fluctuations which entail exchange rate risk, by using options and futuresBooks on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 16 pp. Englisch.

What was once enforced became an important part of national identity and seemed also after the Cold War hindering an accession of Austria to the European Community. Over the past years Austria tried to adapt its principle of neutrality and thereby finally became a full member of the European Union 1995. However, the policy of neutrality is still on the agenda especially concerning the Constitution for Europe. The questions which will be addressed in that paper are: What is the meaning of Austriäs policy of neutrality in general What did this implied for Austriäs foreign policy and its relationship to European Community How comes, that this principle is still so important and how does Austria evaluate the Constitution for Europe in terms of neutrality Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 16 pp. Englisch.

The Russians were left ¿feeling robbed of a sense of place, of purpose and of identity¿ . By the mid-1990¿s, Russia, while contending with the ups and downs of economic crisis and the health of its leaders, was trying to find its own course, attempting to resurrect past glories, learn from recent mistakes, and forge a place in a community of nations. Together with society, youth was going through a period of change in its ideological, economic and moral values. According to Martha Olcott, ¿it was Russian youth, who seemed to suffer disproportionately from the numerous social disorders in the USSR at the end of the decade¿. Ilynsky talks about the widespread moral decay in Russia in the 1990¿s and the lack of direction among many young people ¿ ¿their poor understanding of freedom, lack of faith in politicians, growing sense of injustice and general concerns about what the future might bring¿.Russian identity is and has been a topic of continual argument, of conflicting claims, competing images, contradictory criteria. According to S. Franklin, ¿Russia is continually represented as a question, a field of possibilities, a set of contradictions¿. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 even more intensified self-questioning in the ¿new¿ Russia started. Usually, such questions have been posed by the young population of Russia who happened to live in the period of global economic and ideological transitions. What kind of country is Russia to be What has happened to young people in the post-Communist phase The focus of this paper is how the changing economic, political and social geography of Russia affected the youth since the fall of communism in 1991. I will reflect upon the typical portrait and particular features of the post-Soviet youth. My research question is as follow: ¿What images, sentiments, and obligations do young Russians attribute to their homeland, and how do these contribute to an understanding of their notions of ethnicity, patriotism, and nationalism ¿Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 20 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -Essay from the year 2005 in the subject Biology - Evolution, grade: A (very good), Umea University (Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences), course: Evolutionary Ecology, language: English, abstract: The Neanderthals lived in Europe and the Near East for at least 250,000 years and they outdared several climate changes. They were capable of surviving in a harsh, cold environment and were well adapted to it ¿ cultural and morphological. Thus, the Neanderthals have been proven to be a successful human kind. But why then did they disappear so quickly and without a trace just between 40,000 and 28,000 yr BP (= years before present) [8] One possible answer is that modern humans starting to invade the Near East and Europe out of Africa 45,000 to 40,000 yr BP have outcompeted them, due to higher cultural and mental abilities, using the resources in a more efficient way than the Neanderthals. But is this really true Have modern humans really had higher abilities Did they admix with the local Neanderthal populations, integrating the native genes in their gene pool Or did modern humans not interbreed with them And ¿ the big question: were Neanderthals and anatomically modern humans distinct species or just local variants of the same species To bring more light into this scenario, these questions will be answered in the following chapters using genetic, morphological and simulation-data that has been brought up by several researchers over the last years. Answering these fundamental questions also lies in the range of basic needs of human mind: we all want to know where we come from, who was our ancestor and who was it not. To realize which strange ways evolution sometimes takes and to determine what really happened is for sure an exciting thing, and that is exactly what researchers do when they trace human evolution back to the point when Neanderthals and modern humans met in Europe during the last ice age. Only one of them should survive this meeting, and to determine why and how this happened I will start with the description and comparison of the two main characters.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 20 pp. Englisch.

In the American English this word has one more meaning: in the past a frontier was the 'farthest part of a country to which settlement has spread, beyond which there is wild or unsettled land' (352). So the language of the frontier is first of all the language of people who settled at the western frontier of United States. The settlers were plain people, backwoodsmen, most of them were illiterate and spoke a simple, substandard English, often even dialects that originated from their old fatherland (Sorbonne). That all influenced of course the language as the whole. The language of the frontiersmen is well documented and can be an object of scientific studies thanks to tall tales, which were oral stories, before they were written down. So The Tall Tales of Davy Crockett can be a very rich source of examples of words and grammar rules used by people those days. It is also interesting to examine the characteristics of texts written in the beginnings of the 19th century.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 16 pp. Englisch.

After a theoretical introduction, I examine the arguments for and against the bilingual education by balancing previous research on this issue. Then I will analyze the problems in this field and the language legislation in the US. For a better understanding of the importance of bilingualism in the US, I will refer to the interest groups, the differences between the states, and to the issue of identity. Rather than focusing on the change of the youth, in the latter story type the youth character is exposed to a confrontation with the adult world. In Oates¿s story this confrontation consists of the fact that the youth world (Connie) is getting overpowered by the adult world (Arnold Friend). At the beginning of the story, in the title, the reader is confronted with a twofold question pointing in two directions. ¿The very title of the story calls attention to duality: a future (where are you going) and a past (where have you been).¿ Therefore, in this term paper the following thesis will be examined: ¿The concept of duality is a basic feature of the ¿coming-of-age¿ story.¿ It will be shown that in Oates¿s ¿Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been ¿ one distinctive feature of creating the story type of the ¿coming-of-age¿ story is the concept of duality. While following the twofold pattern of analyzing the representation of the youth world and the adult world, further major techniques of creating duality in Oates¿s story will be discovered, such as irony, ambiguity, grotesque, parody, allusions, deception, and allegory.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 20 pp. Englisch.

Public law governs the relationship between individuals and the states whereas private law regulates the relationship between individuals. When it comes to the laws ruling the aviation world, we also have to divide into these two parts: the public international air law represented in general by the Chicago Convention (formally ¿The Convention on International Civil Aviation¿ done at Chicago on 7 December 1944) and on the other side the private international air law, mainly represented through the Montreal Convention (formally ¿Convention for the Uni¿cation of Certain Rules for the International Carriage by Air¿). The latter represents the liability law in international air transport, regulating the relationship between an air carrier and its customer, passenger, consignor or cargo shipper. It is supposed to replace the Warsaw Convention of 1929 which sets compensation levels for victims of air accidentsas well as liability for damage, delay or loss of baggage and cargo. This paper describes ¿rst the historical way the Convention developed from Warsaw to Montreal and then goes into detail of the Montreal Convention with its achievements and de¿ciencies. Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject American Studies - Culture and Applied Geography, grade: 1, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (Anglistik), course: Proseminar 'Start Spreading the News': New York and Early Modernism, language: English, abstract: Never conventional, never following the rules of any given norm, but in contrast, making ironic statements on society, turning ¿normal¿ items, traditions or circumstances into absurdity. This was what Dada artists like Marcel Duchamp, Francis Picabia, Man Ray, the Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven and other practitioners were aiming at. A well-remembered incident is the scandal that introduced the concept of Dadaism into American Art. Duchamp brought a urinal to the first exhibition of the Society of Independent artists on 10 April 1917. He did not change anything, but moved it from its original place, called it ¿Fountain¿ and signed it with the pseudonym ¿R. Mutt¿. Only four days before the exhibition took place, president Woodrow Wilson had declared war on Germany. As Michael R. Taylor writes in his essay ¿New York Dadä, this event ¿may have played a role in Duchamp¿s decision to enter his scandalous submission¿. The New York Dada artists wanted to show their neglect of the cruel war in Europe and with their art challenged ideas about art which were commonly accepted. They produced ¿paintings, mixed-media assemblages, sculptures, found objects, readymades, photography, and performances¿ (Taylor, 277). With the photomontage, the film or a photography the author of a work could not be guessed by looking at the work of art (Taylor, 277), the importance of the work was rather the message behind it. The message to a society which had absurd traditions, absurd machineries whith which people killed each other and a society that had cultural prejudices, which again were absurd. Having this common interest the New York Dada artists soon came together in the appartment of Louise and Walter Arensberg in 33 West 67th Street which served for their meetings from 1915 to 1921. ¿It was while surrounded by this stunning array of paintings and sculpture that the group members hotly debated such topics as art, literature, sex, politics, and psychoanalysis, while others preferred to play chess, drink champagne, or dance the night away in their bare feet.¿ (Taylor, 278).BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 20 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2009 in the subject Economics - Economic Cycle and Growth, grade: 1,3, University of Applied Sciences Hof, language: English, abstract: The understanding of the cause and effects of inflation is crucial to understanding its impacton society throughout history. Inflation was a main cause for empires to fall. By lowering themetal content of the coin or nowadays with the issuance of an ever increasing amount of¿paper currencies¿ backed by ¿nothing¿, a debasement of the currency was and is a directconsequence. With the debasement of the currency, people are deprived of the purchasingpower of the currency. Before we look at the ramifications of inflation, a correct and distinctdefinition of the term inflation is required. The word inflation is derived from the Latin¿inflare¿ and means to increase or to balloon.1 In this context it relates to the increase ofmoney supply by continuing government issue of currency.Up until the 1940s the term inflation only referred to an increase in the money supply beyondthe increase in goods and services during a given period of time.2 By this definition, the causeof inflation is easy to determine; namely the institution issuing the currency. From the 1940sthrough to the present day, the prevailing definition of inflation significantly varies from thehistoric definition. The standard definition of inflation today adopted by economists and themainstream press is that inflation is an increase in prices. This change of the meaning of theterm inflation is by no means harmless since it paved the way towards inflationism. As wewill see later on in this study, inflation has been prevailing in the industrialized countriessince World War I and has been exacerbated by the complete demonetisation of gold in 1971as President Nixon closed the ¿Gold window¿.By focusing on the term inflation I will rely on the historic and the Austrian economicdefinition due to its longer period in use and its higher accuracy. The modern definition ofinflation as simply rising prices looks more at the symptoms of monetary inflation and not atthe cause. An understanding of the real cause of inflation is vital to an understanding offixing it once it reappears.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 20 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2008 in the subject Didactics - English - Pedagogy, Literature Studies, grade: 1,0, Free University of Berlin (Institut für Englische Philologie), course: Linguistic Gender Studies, language: English, abstract: As Donna Haraway states, all the modern feminist meanings of gender, despite differences, have roots in Simone de Beauvoir¿s claim that ¿one is not born a woman¿ (de Beauvoir, 1949; 1952, p.249) and in post-Second World War social conditions. Those conditions have enabled constructions of women as a collective historical subject-in-process. The concept of Gender was developed to question and contest the naturalization of sexual difference in multiple areas of struggle. ¿Feminist theory and practice around gender seek to explain and change historical systems of sexual difference, whereby ¿men¿ and ¿women¿ are socially constructed and positioned in relations of hierarchy and antagonism.¿ (Haraway 1991). The refusal to become or to remain a ¿gendered¿ ¿woman¿ or ¿man¿ is a political challenge also against the imaginary narrative of sex and race. Gender refers primarily but not exclusively to women. It defines the term ¿women¿ as a very broad and internally differentiated category that includes differences as the highly relevant variables of class, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation and age. Of interest are the visible and invisible power mechanisms that influence women¿s access to responsibility in social, economic, political, religious, intellectual and cultural life. ¿Male¿ and ¿female¿ are culturally produced, socially constructed categories and language is often seen as part of what constructs, maintains and reflects these categories. But on the other hand, we need categories to be able to analyse, study and describe in order to find solutions for change. Gender is transdisciplinary and a study of language, that is an essential basis for active participation in society is important. Today¿s gender topics are not only of importance for ¿women¿. In a continuously changing society they are also of concern for ¿men¿ and require their active participation in a restructuring of society. A discussion and (re)negotiation of these issues needs participants who can and will take part equally. Over time, different approaches were developed to interpret differences in communication style between ¿men¿ and ¿women¿. In the first part of this work I will try to find out: What are the causes for gender-related variation In the second part I will look at two case studies, ¿Complaint stories¿ by Susanne Günthner and ¿TV discussions¿ by Helga Kotthoff, in order to answer the intertwined question: What are the consequences of gender-related variation BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 28 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2008 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Linguistics, grade: 8 ECTS (out of 10), University of Groningen, course: M.A. 'Euroculture: Europe in the Wider World', language: English, abstract: In this paper the headline of English-speaking newspapers and magazines has been studied as an independent and effective persuasive element of a text. In this paper I want to discuss, how susceptible are we to linguistic style How profoundly can the impact of a message be enhanced by the manner in which it is written, assuming that one and the same thought can be expressed with different stylistic tools The choice of words reflects not only differences in evaluations (positive or negative) or in emotions - it is also able to thrust reader¿s attitude to the core of a message and to direct and control one¿s perception and comprehension. The paper claims that language can be a very powerful and persuasive tool which draws the readers¿ attention, being operated by skilful editors in a newspaper or magazine headline. In this regard, the purpose of the paper is to address and answer the research question: ¿How persuasion is realized linguistically across the English-speaking newspaper and magazine headlines ¿The study of headline as a powerful and persuasive linguistic tool can be applicable to multiple spheres of public life and to various media of information (e.g.: political campaigns, slogans, advertising, publication of new directives issued by the European Commission, etc.). It is interesting to observe, what kind of stylistic devices and persuasive techniques news editors apply in headlines during the election campaigns in France (in 2007), in order to create public opinion or to provoke a certain reaction from the readers.Periodicals are cultural artefacts which are created and which function within a certain cultural context. That is, they operate within the value system of that culture. Schäffner noted that ¿any political action is prepared, accompanied, controlled and influenced by language¿ . According to M. Foucault , who first introduced aspect of power in construction of meaning, things have no meaning in themselves, they gain meaning which varies from context to context. All cultural practices depend on meaning and are constructed within discourse. Consequently, language is not simply a medium carrying meaning, but a medium constructing meaning. This paper argues that a headline in newspapers and magazines holds a persuasive potential and is able to direct construction of a certain context for interpreting and affecting reader¿s emotions. It gives grounds for claiming that same facts can be interpreted differently in different contexts.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 24 pp. Englisch.

For a comprehensive analysis of the two maincharacters of every play, the hero and the villain (3.1 and 3.2), the general characteristics and attendant circumstances of Victorian melodrama will be delineated (2.1 and 2.2). In chapter (3), the characteristic traits of heroes and villains will be elaborated and we shall see in which respect they differ and which traits they possibly share. The last chapter will attempt a conclusive explanation as to their differences and the origins thereof. In order to illuminate the various facets of manhood and gentlemanliness, this paper will largely draw upon the ideas of John Ruskin concerning the nature of man. Some plays, however, do not have villains or heroes who strictly conform to stereotypes or clearly designate pure evil or pure goodness. Some villainous characters are not innately evil and can be brought back to the good side. Conversely, a hero is not necessarily an innately good character but can fall prey to temptations. The villainous and the virtuous do not only distinguish themselves from one another by their morals but also by varying degrees of manliness or gentlemanliness respectively. The question that shall concern us here is in which way do they differ concerning masculinity in general and in gentlemanliness in particular. Is it justified to view the hero as being manlier than the villain BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 28 pp. Englisch.

Being the initiator of Germantown, the first province in America founded by German immigrants, he created a special image of America. For this purpose, I will make use of Rob Kroes¿ theory which says that images of America are always influenced by certain metaphorical dimensions. In the second part of the work at hand you may learn about the metaphorical dimensions by the Dutch professor in his book ¿If yoüve one, yoüve seen the mall¿. He is of the conviction that these dimensions have always been used in history when creating America images. To what extent can Rob Kroes¿ theory be applied to Pastorius¿ image of America As a result I can say that Pastorius¿ image of America partly confirms Kroes¿ metaphors, because two of the metaphorical dimensions, the spatial and the temporal ones, are contained in the analysed letter.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 24 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2009 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 1,0, University of Bremen, language: English, abstract: Othello already raised questions about the nature of race, its social implications and about the correlation of outer appearances and inner qualities. The matter of skin colour and racist stereotyping is evident in Othello and it is vital for the interpretation of the play. As an ¿extravagant and wheeling stranger/ Of here, and every where¿ (1.1.135-136). Othello is not just like any other man, but largely defined by his origin and colour. In this paper I want to examine the role of Othello's skin colour in the play and if we can consider the play as racist. Although these questions are today probably more relevant than ever, my main focus will be to analyse the importance of race in the context of Shakespeare's times. In order to answer the question, whether or not Othello is a racist drama, I first have to define the term 'race'. As the concept of race has changed over time and is still changing, I will also look at Elizabethan attitudes towards race and foreigners and how strangers were portrayed on the Elizabethan stage. The play is not set in England, but in Venice, a place that serves a certain function in the play, which I will also examine. In the second part of this paper I will look at the play itself and its characters. I will analyse the different roles and their attitudes towards Othello's colour and how they influence Othello's self-perception and his personal fate. In Othello skin colour and blackness stand for more than just physical appearance or cultural background, but it is also linked to the character's inner lives and it largely determines the outcome of the play. The importance of racial concepts in Othello will be examined in the last part of this paper.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 28 pp. Englisch.

North¿s theoretical work during the last twenty years on economic history as well as on new institutions economics and institutional change. While the paper is more concerned on how North approaches the origin and development of the state via property rights it also will take his theory of institutional change and the way he emphasizes economies of scale and transaction costs into account.Part One of this paper will give a short introduction into the topic of the philosophy of the state. This will be followed by North¿s argumentation and thus his philosophy of the state derived in his numerous works. To begin with, Part Two of this paper gives an introduction into North¿s argumentation on the role of property rights for economic growth. Part Three will then explain what role government has in economic organization. The role of economies of scale for property rights and fiscal policies will be looked upon thereafter in Part Four. The circle will then be closed by linking economic growth and property rights with the development of the state. Analogously to North¿s argumentation in his book ¿The Rise of the Western World¿ the paper takes a section of ten millennia in economic history in order to explain the tension between property rights and the role of government as North sees it. North¿s model of the state will then be introduced in Part Six, followed by a short introduction into his Theory of Institutional Change in Part Seven of this paper.A short critique will be given at the end.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 32 pp. Englisch.

Introduction1.1 Focus of this scientific abstractToday¿s extremely competitive global market place requires a greater level of competences and skills of sales staff. Especially in times of financial crisis and a high degree of uncertainty, customers demand mutual trust and sales professionals. They expect to receive individualized solutions to their problems and not as 30 years ago a nice smile and a warm welcome. As this relies on all service industries, we defined the financial sector as the focus of our scientific abstract, in order to narrow the mass down and to create a comparable basis. The over 200 identified competencies in over 30 categories that are required for an efficient selling, explain the complexity of the selling process . Therefore, the need of implementing a human resource development program is quite obvious. The question of the right approach to this problem will be specified by the following hypothesis:Coaching - Efficiency enhancement and motivation - Effects of coaching on sales staffIn the course of this scientific abstract we are going to examine this hypothesis by referring both to the theory and the practice, represented by Atradius AG and Commerzbank AG. Atradius is the second largest credit insurance company in the world, therefore mostly a global player. Commerzbank is the leading German universal bank with the focus on small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and private customers. Both are eminent organizations of the financial sector and highly dependent on the quality and profitability of their sales staff.1.2 General definition of coachingAlthough there is no single agreed upon the definition of the term ¿coaching¿, numerous [.]Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 28 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Diploma Thesis from the year 2008 in the subject Business economics - Banking, Stock Exchanges, Insurance, Accounting, grade: 1.0, Swiss Finance Institute (Bankmanagement), course: Executive Program, language: English, abstract: The global banking sector is currently undergoing fundamental changes. Banks face new challenges created by socio-economic and political developments and the potential of new information and communication technologies. Competition has risen to formerly unknown levels and active management of costs has become an ongoing tasks.Unlike the manufacturing industries most banks still cover large parts of their value chain by themselves. Lead by Anglo-Saxon institutes global banks have started in recent years to use the advantages of globalization by splitting up their value chains and by offshoring selected functions to countries offering wage differentials. According to experts banks have just started to create their global sourcing model, so that the offshoring volume is projected to increase further. While most banks have started their offshoring initiatives with IT functions, business process offshoring and even knowledge process offshoring have now become the main drivers of the move to the key offshoring locations like India, China and Eastern Europe.Banks from Switzerland have been spectators to the global move towards a global delivery model for many years. Only its two large global banks ¿ UBS and Credit Suisse ¿ have started offshoring initiatives yet trying to catch up with their global competitors. They face challenges especially from the legal and regulatory side, which are specific to offshoring from Switzerland, and have to balance cost discipline with keeping the high standards in quality, security and confidentiality, which are the base for the high reputation of the Swiss banking market. The primary objective of this paper is to give an overview on the current status as well as on trends in business process offshoring by banks in general and on offshoring from the Swiss banking market specifically. As Swiss institutes lag the global offshoring trend, the specific conditions for offshoring from Switzerland will get analyzed.Secondary objective of this paper is to give a high-level introduction to the key issues in business process offshoring: What are the organizational options in offshoring Which banking processes are suitable for offshoring and what are the criteria for identifying them What are the main offshoring locations and criteria in the site selection What are the drivers, but also risks and benefits of offshoring Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 56 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 24 pp. Spanisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Thesis (M.A.) from the year 2008 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: Development Politics, grade: Merit, University of Birmingham, course: International Development, language: English, abstract: Climate change is a global concern with its impending threats to economies, human development and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. Climate change impacts are currently being observed and studies show that poor countries are the most vulnerable. Using Bangladesh as a case study, this research examines the impacts of climate change to poor, rural communities and further explores the measures that are carried out to combat its existing and future threats. This research also aims to look into the existing socio-economic vulnerabilities of Bangladesh in order to establish the linkage between climate change and development.Findings of this study show that poor communities are impacted by climate change through the loss of lives, assets and livelihoods. Adaptation to climate change is therefore necessary and should be integrated in development planning and objectives, to ensure that the most vulnerable groups are represented. Overall this research has observed that Bangladesh is still lacking this capacity, despite the spontaneous adaptation being practised by local communities. This study has further observed that the most common response in addressing climate change impacts to vulnerable communities in Bangladesh is community-based adaptation, which focuses on local coping strategies and mechanisms. Community-based adaptation in the context of this research is focused on securing livelihoods and building a knowledge base for climate change awareness, among poor, rural communities and households. The findings of this study affirms that CBA programmes are increasing the resiliency of poor communities to climate change impacts however, certain limitations still exist which are further linked to policy formulation and integration, along with structural weaknesses in relation to addressing climate change in Bangladesh at the national level.Effective adaptation strategies that address climate change induced stresses are based on the participation of stakeholders and the key actors in policy making at the local, regional and national levels. This research demonstrates that this is the challenge currently facing Bangladesh and the overall conclusion presents that coordination, development and implementation of a national adaptation strategy that addresses climate change at all sectors, should help establish the framework in reducing the country¿s present and future vulnerabilities, in relation to climate change.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 68 pp. Englisch.
