The first edition of this scarce work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. The award-winning artist Kim Ondaatje spent two years photographing old Ontario houses built from 1816 to 1916. 176 of her photographs were selected to represent the architectural heritage of the province, separated into three sections in the book: wooden, stone and brick houses. The accompanying text by Lois Mackenzie details the social and architectural history of each house, alongside an explanation of the evolution of Ontario architecture. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is generally smart and bright, with a little chipping to the head of the spine and to the front of the wrap. Fine. book.
