In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Good. TITLE: Leading Cases in the Commercial Law of England and Scotland: Selected and Arranged in Systematic Order, with Notes — Complete Three-Volume First Edition Set (1853-1857) AUTHOR: George Ross, Esq., Advocate (1814-1863) PUBLICATION DETAILS: Publisher: W. G. Benning & Co., London; Thomas Constable & Co., Edinburgh Publication Date: 1853-1857 Edition: First Edition Binding: Hardcover — Contemporary Full Leather Number of Volumes: Three — Complete Set Condition: Good BOOK DESCRIPTION A complete three-volume first edition of George Ross's Leading Cases in the Commercial Law of England and Scotland, published between 1853 and 1857. An important nineteenth-century work of British legal scholarship, systematically presenting leading judicial decisions in English and Scottish commercial law, accompanied by explanatory notes and commentary. The author, George Ross (1814-1863), was a distinguished Scottish advocate and legal scholar who was appointed Professor of Scots Law at the University of Edinburgh in 1861. His legal writings were highly regarded for their careful selection of authorities, systematic arrangement and clarity of legal analysis. The work provides a substantial examination of commercial jurisprudence in nineteenth-century Britain Of particular interest to collectors and researchers, the work provides a valuable historical record of the development of commercial law during a period of considerable economic and industrial expansion. BINDING AND CONDITION Good antiquarian condition. Complete in three volumes. The three volumes are uniformly bound in contemporary full tan-brown leather, with raised bands to the spines and gilt lettering identifying the title, author and individual volumes. The leather displays rubbing, surface scratches, scuffing and general wear consistent with age and use. There is some wear to the spine extremities, raised bands and board edges. The gilt spine lettering remains clearly legible and attractive. Importantly, all boards are firmly attached, all pages are present and there are no loose or detached leaves. The bindings remain structurally sound and the text blocks are secure. The pages exhibit age-related discolouration and scattered foxing, particularly on the preliminary leaves and title pages. The substantial text blocks retain their characteristic uneven, untrimmed edges. Despite their external wear, the volumes remain a handsome, complete and structurally sound example of nineteenth-century legal bookbinding. The accompanying photographs illustrate the actual condition of the bindings, spines, boards and pages. …

- Vgl.
