Softcover. Zustand: Fine. Volume 6, Number 3. Slim octavo. 48pp. Stapled wrappers with a faintly toned spine and tiny bit of soil, just about fine. Laid in in is an 11-page supplement, printing three poems by Yosa Buson (1716-1784), translated by William J. Higginson and Tadashi Kondo. In their afterword, the translators note that they believe that this is the first appearance in English of two of the poems"Lament for Hokuju R?sen" and "A Lyric of Sluggish River"and that the third, "Spring Breeze Horse Levee Tune," had only appeared "in a muddy translation and confusing layout" in a book then out print. Higginson was a charter member of the Haiku Society of America would later co-author the book *The Haiku Handbook*. Other than (presumably) in Higginson's papers at Columbia, *OCLC* doesn't seem to locate any copies of this periodical.…

First edition, inscribed by the author on the title page: "Printed in Paterson N.J., For Christopher Logue, 1979 March 20, Boulder Colorado, lunch with Tom Clark & Ed Dorn, Jennifer Dorn, Peter Orlovsky & Allen Ginsberg." Ginsberg has annotated the contents, contributing additional lines to two haiku. Logue has signed below the inscription and annotated the contents with three haiku. Logue's first haiku reads, "First there is a mountain / then there is no mountain / then there is." The verse was famously set to music by Scottish folk icon Donovan in 1967. The second reads, "Politely saying: / 'Goodbye.' / I feel my hand go up in flames." Logue's final haiku reads, "Terminal empty. / Last flight cancelled. / Saw death there." Logue was a modernist poet, associated with the British Poetry Revival in the 1960s and 1970s. Ginsberg wrote to Gregory Corso the same evening he inscribed this copy to Logue, "much who-ha & woe & thrills with Tom Clark & Ed Dorn interviewing me for local Boulder slick paper magazine & publishing Sanders report" (unpublished letter, offered by RR Auctions in 2023).
