Erstausgabe
Softcover. Zustand: Very Good. First edition. Small quarto. 16, [12, plates] pp. Illustrated from black and white photographs, and from a drawing. Printed wrappers over stapled textblock. Ownership stamp and signature of a noted American psychologist, as well as the subject written along the spine, both on the cover. Staples a bit oxidized and a couple of leaves very lightly foxed, lower corner creased throughout, very good. A very interesting document, proposing the possibility of attaining vision through the cheek, via medical hypnosis or Buddhist concentration development. Illustrated with half-tone photographs of a 1959 demonstration of the phenomenon, and from a drawing of the proposed "extra-ocular pathways." Published and distributed on the occasion of Mahidol Memorial Day (Prince Mahidol Adulyadej is regarded as the father of modern medicine and public health in Thailand), and with the author's compliment slip tipped-on to the copyright page. *OCLC* locates only five copies, two in the U.S. (Chicago, National Library of Medicine).
