Stockholm, Albert Bonniers förlag, 1928. 8:o. 304 s. Minnas var ett ambitiöst romanprojekt som Johnson påbörjade i Frankrike i februari 1927, med avsikten att kalla boken "Herr Clerk, vår mästare". Handlingen utspelar sig i en norrländsk småstad och är enligt författaren "ett försök att skildra ungdomsstämning, ungdomsspänning, oro inför livet, osäkerheten och lusten att fly långt bort", med påverkan från Sigmund Freud och Marcel Proust. Manuskriptet blev dock alltför omfattande och Johnson insåg att det skulle bli svårt att få boken utgiven. Efter att han själv strukit ett stort parti som utspelar sig i Himmelrik, och därefter gått med på förlagets önskemål om ytterligare strykningar, utkom boken som Minnas i november 1928. Gerard Bonnier erbjöd 1961 Johnson att utge boken i dess ursprungliga form, men Johnson var tveksam. Först 1998 utgavs den rekonstruerade originalversionen, med den ursprungliga titeln, av Svenska Akademien. …
