Il libro d'artista concepito da Coldwell nacque dall'ascolto dell'ultimo reportage dalla Bosnia diffuso dalla BBC dall'allora corrispondente di guerra Martin Bell. Il senso di tragico e desolante abbandono che emergeva dalle parole accorate del corrispondente, costretto ad assistere alla fuga di un popolo intero nei loro migliori vestiti - le uniche cose che era possibile portare via nella tragedia imminente - viene tradotto in immagini fotografiche in bianco e nero di grande impatto. ''L'immagine più tragica che porto con me non è quella di massacri, atrocità o macerie, ma di centinaia di rifugiati che scappano su una strada di campagna zeppa di mine, con indosso i vestiti della domenica, completi neri per gli uomini e vestiti da sera per le donne. Perchè se tutto ciò che puoi prendere è ciò con cui puoi scappare via, allora scappi indossando i tuoi migliori abiti con le tasche piene di foto di famiglia''.
