I have been listing some nice vintage geology books, many of them classics in the field and almost sacred texts of the subject. Here s something a bit more contemporary and probably a good deal more interesting to read, especially because it is very well illustrated. Please find: The Rock Book by Carroll Lane Fention and Mildred Adams Fenton. This large hard cover book (7 ¼ x 10 inches, 357 pages) was published by Doubleday, Doran & Co. of New York, dated 1940, a First Edition (so stated). The book is bound in light green oxford-like cloth with embossed titles on the cover and a black & gilt title panel on the spine. The book includes a colorful Frontispiece and four other full-page color plates, 48 b&w photographic plates and many other drawings and diagrams as illustrations throughout the book. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. The hard covers are clean and bright with just the slightest sign of bumping. Inside, the book is unmarked and the only blemishes are some toning of the endpapers, probably due to the acids of the binding glues. The interior pages are clean and bright as well without any toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and strong. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Language: ENG.…
