Han har framförallt utfört en mängd porträtt och fick sitt genombrott 1967 med bilder av Sara Lidman och Tove Jansson. Andra som förevigats är Angela Davis, Andy Warhol, Nelson Mandela och välkända svenskar som Olof Palme, Birgit Nilsson och Jonas Gardell. Gedda har även hela tiden verkat som kommersiell fotograf, som i denna bok med cirkusbilder som beställts av Cirkus Scott. Fotografierna är en blandning av porträtt och halvdokumentära reportagebilder och visades under Geddas utställning på Nationalmuseum 2014 i en särskild avdelning ("bland det mest spännande som Gedda gjort").
